Together, the three rings resemble number “18”, symbolising the participation of all 18 districts in the Hong Kong Games.
The three closely placed rings also represent Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories and reflect the close partnership among the bodies involved in the organisation of the games: the Sports Commission, the 18 District Councils, district sports associations, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and the relevant National Sports Associations.
Red highlights the power and passion of the athletes. Orange brown and blue represent indoor and outdoor events respectively.
The thin lines add a feeling of motion to the design and bespeak the vitality of the 18 districts.
