The 2nd Hong Kong Games – Athletics Elite Athletes’ Demonstration and Exchange Highlights

The 2nd Hong Kong Games Athletics Elite Athletes’ Demonstration and Exchange was held on 26 April 2009 at the newly constructed Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. Several experienced coaches and elite athletes from the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association, including YU Chi-siu, Hong Kong Male Javelin-throw record-holder; LEUNG Yee-mei, Hong Kong Female Hammer-throw record-holder; and LEE Ka-shun, Hong Kong Female Discus-throw record-holder gave over fifty participants a brush-up on basic techniques. They also demonstrated their skills in nine events including sprint, relay, middle & long distance running, hurdle, high jump, long jump, discus, javelin and shot put.

The 2nd Hong Kong Games – Athletics Elite Athletes’ Demonstration and Exchange Highlights

Apart from the demonstration and guidance, the coaches and elite athletes shared their experience of training and competition with the participants. Meanwhile, Dr LAM Wing-kai, sports trainer of Faculty of Health & Social Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, was invited to give talk on stress management and prevention of sports injuries. Participants benefited greatly from the event.
