Impatiens (Impatiens walleriana)
Impatiens (Impatiens walleriana)

Impatiens are herbaceous perennials native to the tropical region of East Africa. They have succulent stems and can reach 25 to 60 cm in height. Leaves are thick and in opposite arrangement. Bisexual flowers come in a wide variety of colours such as purple red, orange red, pink, pinkish white and salmon. They bloom almost all the year round. The common name ˇ§Impatiensˇ¨ derives from the word impatience as its fruit when mature is an elastically explosive capsule. It discharges the seeds with a slightest touch.
