1.

Participants must follow the instructions of the Organisers’ staff and the judges in the course of training and the Competition.  The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify the participants who fail to do so.

   

2.

Dress Code

 

 

 

 

(a)

Participants must wear the number bibs specified by the Organisers and comply with the following safety instructions, otherwise they may be disqualified:

 

 

  • Wear loose and light clothing;

 

 

  • Wear Sports shoes (no bare feet, leather shoes, hiking shoes, spiked shoes or sandals);

 

 

  • Wear the safety gear (harnesses, locks and fall arresting devices) and bags (for carrying buns grabbed during the Competition) provided by the Organisers; and

 

(b)

Participants may wear tight leather gloves

 

 

 

3.

Reporting

 

(a)

Participants must report to the Organisers half an hour before the specified time of the Competitions. Participants who fail to report on time will be regarded as waiving their rights of participation and will be disqualified.

 

(b)

Participants must produce originals of their identity documents (affixed with photos) when reporting for verification by the Organisers’ staff.  If they fail to produce valid identity documents or their personal particulars do not tally with those stated in the enrolment forms, they will be regarded as waiving their rights of participation and will not be allowed to take part in the Competitions.

 

 

 

4.

Rules of Competition

 

(a)

Participants who fail to show up at the specified time of the Competitions will be regarded as waiving their rights of participation.

 

(b)

Participants are strictly forbidden to carry any hard objects or any objects that can be used as offensive weapons in the Competitions.

 

(c)

Participants are not allowed to carry any electronic equipment in the Competitions.

 

(d)

Participants must fasten the safety belts specified by the Organisers prior to the commencement of the Competitions.

 

(e)

All safety gear must be inspected by the judges prior to the commencement of the Competitions.

 

(f)

The judges have the right to prohibit participants with inadequate safety gears from taking part in the Competitions.

 

(g)

When getting ready to climb up the bun tower, participants must keep both feet on the ground and keep both hands off the bun tower.

 

(h)

Once the judge issues the “start” signal, participants can climb upwards.

 

(i)

If any participant jumps the start, the judge will immediately signal so by raising his/her hand and will inform the participant concerned of his/her disqualification once he/she returns to the ground.

 

(j)

Participants must climb up vertically and are strictly forbidden to climb sideways.

 

(k)

Participants are strictly prohibited from climbing up with the aid of climbing ropes or fall arresting devices.

 

(l)

Participants are not allowed to climb up with the aid of others, by pulling other participants’ clothing or safety gear, or by stepping on any parts of other participants’ bodies.

 

(m)

Participants must return to the ground along the climbing ropes and are not allowed to unfasten any safety gear in the course of climbing down.   

 

(n)

The judges have the right to stop the participants who fail to observe any of the rules above from taking part in the Competitions and cancel their scores.

 

(o)

Participants must return to the ground and land with both feet within the specified time in order to complete the Competitions.

 

(p)

Winning criteria:

 

 

  • “Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition” – Speed Event (The first 12 participants (nine male participants and three female participants) who climb up to the specified height of the bun tower and successfully hit the signal object will enter the final competition.  In case the finishing times of some of the 12 participants (nine men and three women) are the same, a replay will be arranged on the same day for those who finish at the same time.  Details of the replay shall be subject to the announcements made by the Organisers on the day of the Competition.

 

  • “Bun Scrambling Competition” – Score Event (The finalists who grab the largest numbers of buns with the highest score within the specified time and area will be the winners.  In case of a tie, the positions of the participants will be determined by their results in the Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition.)
  (q) Race lane arrangement:
   
  • “Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition” – Participants must report to the Organisers half an hour before the specified time of the Competition for balloting of position.

 

 

  • “Bun Scrambling Competition” – Race lanes will be allocated according to the finish ranking in the “Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition”.  Higher ranked and lower ranked participants will be alternatively lined along the 12 race lanes.

 

(r)

During the “Bun Scrambling Competition”, the judge will give out the “one-minute-to-go” signal one minute before the specified closing time.  Participants must complete the Competition and return to the ground before the specified closing time.  Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.

 

(s)

After the completion of Competition, participants are prohibited to take away buns either from the bun tower or on the ground and they are not allowed to throw the buns to spectators. Otherwise, they will be disqualified.

 

(t)

The Organisers have the right to disqualify any participant who is found to have violated the rules of the Competitions or have misbehaved in any way that affects the Competitions, or who has been in a physical condition that is unsuitable for participation in the Competitions.

 

(u)

The Organisers reserve the right to amend the rules of the Competition if necessary.  The rules announced on the day of the Competitions shall prevail.

 

 

5.

Adjudication and Appeal

 

(a)

The panel of judges of the Competition will be composed of members of the Organisers and the China Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union.

 

(b)

No appeal will be allowed.  The decision of the judges is final.

 

 

 

6.

Arrangement for Inclement Weather

 

(a)

If tropical cyclone signal no. 3 or above or Red or Black rainstorm warning is still in force three hours prior to the commencement of the Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition, the event will be postponed to 26 April 2014 (Saturday) at the same time and venue.

 

(b)

The Organisers reserve the right to decide whether the events should continue in case of inclement weather prior to and in the course of the events.
