  • Applicants must attend and complete the safety training on bun tower climbing and prevention of falling provided by the China Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union.

Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling
Competition

  • Applicants who have completed the training on bun tower climbing can take part in the “Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition”.
  • Participants who reach the designated height of the bun tower and hit the signal object successfully within the shortest time will be selected.
  • The first nine male participants and the first three female participants will be qualified to enter the "Bun Scrambling Competition".

  • Prizes will be awarded to the champion and the first and second runners-up in the Men's Team and to the champion in the Women's Team.
  • The finalists who grab the largest numbers of buns with the highest scores within the specified time and area will be the winners. In case of a tie, the positions of the participants will be determined by their scores in the Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition.

* In case of inclement weather, the Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition will be postponed to 21 April 2012 (Saturday) at the same time and venue. Please refer to Arrangement for Inclement Weather for details.

Location: Soccer pitch of Pak Tai Temple Playground, Cheung Chau

Eligibility:

  1. Healthy and physically fit persons aged 18 or above.
  2. Participants residing, working or studying in Cheung Chau will be accorded priority in balloting.  They should enclose copies of the relevant documentary proofs when submitting their enrolment forms.

Enrolment Method:

  1. Completed enrolment forms should be returned to the Islands District Leisure Services Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (Address: Room 622, 6/Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong; Tel. No.: 2852 3220) by hand, by fax (Fax No.: 2854 3949) or by post (as indicated by postmark) on or before 21 March 2013 (Thursday).
  2. For submission of enrolment forms in person, participants’ identity documents (originals or photocopies) should be produced for verification (copies of relevant documentary proofs should also be enclosed for those applying for ballot priority in the capacity of persons residing, working or studying in Cheung Chau). For submission of enrolment forms by fax or by post, copies of participants’ identity documents (and copies of relevant documentary proofs for those applying for ballot priority in the capacity of persons residing, working or studying in Cheung Chau) should be attached.  No ballot priority will be accorded to applicants without copies of valid documentary proofs of residence, work or study in Cheung Chau.  The personal data provided by you will only be used for the purposes of enrolment, compilation of statistics, future contact and promotion relating to this event.  No persons will be given access to your personal data except the staff authorised by the Organisers.  The personal data provided by you will be destroyed after the event. For submission of enrolment forms by post, the words "Bun Scrambling Competition" should be marked on the envelope.
  3. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, places will be decided by ballot.  Successful applicants will be notified in writing to attend the training.  Unsuccessful applicants will not receive any notification.
  4. All the particulars stated in the enrolment forms must be true and complete in details.  Any misrepresentation on the part of a participant will lead to disqualification and cancellation of all his/her scores in the Competition.  The participant’s position will be filled by the participant of the next position.

Arrangement for Inclement Weather

  • If tropical cyclone signal no. 3 or above or Red or Black rainstorm warning is still in force three hours prior to the commencement of the Selection of Finalists for the Bun Scrambling Competition, the event will be postponed to 11 May 2013 (Saturday) at the same time and venue.
  • The Organizers reserve the right to decide whether the events should continue in case of inclement weather prior to and in the course of the events.

Date and Place of Ballot:

The ballot will be held at 25/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central at 11:00 am on 28 March 2013 (Thursday). Members of the public are welcome to attend the ballot.

Award:

Trophies will be awarded to the champion and the first and second runners-up in the Men’s Team, and to the champion in the Women's Team.

Adjudication:

The panel of judges will compose of members of the Organisers and the China Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union.

Rules:

Please refer to the Notes to Participants of the "Bun Scrambling Competition".

Appeal:

No appeal will be allowed and the decision of the judges shall be final.
