A Pioneer of Modern Chinese Painting - The Art of Lin Fengmian |
The exhibition features some 100 pieces of representative works, including landscapes, flowers, opera figures and birds by the 20th century great master Lin Fengmian who blended Western and Chinese art to open a new horizon of modern Chinese ink painting. The exhibition reveals the superb accomplishments of this great painter. The works are selected from the collections of the Shanghai Art Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art and private collections.

The 1st Hong Kong Games |
Hong Kong Games is the first ever territory-wide multi-sports event to be held for the participation by the 18 District Councils. It aims to strengthen community cohesiveness, foster harmony and promote a stronger sporting culture among Hong Kong people. The Games will be held biennially starting from 2007. Competitions in four popular sports namely athletics, basketball, badminton and table tennis will be organised from April to May 2007.

Soaring Dinosaurs - Chinese Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life |
The exhibition features feathered dinosaurs, dinosaurs and fossils of prehistoric life unearthed in China and explores the origin of mammals, birds and flowering plants. The collection of exquisite fossils shows the abundance of evolutionary records preserved in China. Exhibits are provided by the Institute of Geology of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Museum, Chongqing Natural History Museum and Lufeng Dinosaur Museum in Yunnan.

Splendour and Mystery of Ancient Shu - Cultural Relics from Sanxingdui and Jinsha |
Exploring the art and material culture of a lost civilization in ancient Sichuan, this large-scale exhibition will showcase the significant discoveries from Sanxingdui, Jinsha and other related archaeological sites. Highlights include bronze images of deities, exquisite bronze vessels and jade pieces as well as delicate pottery wares.

A Showcase of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Cantonese Opera Masters |
Under the theme of "happy reunion" in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Hong Kong SAR, the Guangdong Culture Department, Home Affairs Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government will jointly organise productions of operatic excerpts featuring famous artists from the three places.

2007 International Dragon Boat Races |
Dragon Boat races are manifestation of China's rich culture and long history. They have gained tremendous popularity around the world in recent years. This year, the International Dragon Boat Races will be staged from 22 to 24 June 2007 once again at Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront. Over 120 teams including 20 teams from the mainland and overseas will be invited to take part in the races. The overseas teams will come from Africa, France, Canada, Australia, Philippines, Macau, Taipei, Singapore, Japan and Thailand.

National Ballet of China |
The National Ballet of China was founded in 1959 and is the only ballet company with national accreditation in China.
The National Ballet will be presenting two programmes. In Le Corsaire, Conrad, the leader of a pirate gang is saved by Medora, a fishing girl, after a shipwreck and in turn, he saves her from the hands of a slave trader. The Red Detachment of Women tells the story of a poor peasant girl, Qionghua, who goes through many trials and tribulations before becoming a heroine in the revolution.

"The Pride of China: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy of the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties from the Palace Museum" Exhibition |
The exhibition features 32 masterpieces of the most important Chinese paintings and calligraphy of the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties. World acclaimed masterpieces, to be featured include Wang Xun's Letter to Boyuan of the Jin dynasty, Feng Chengsu's Copy of Preface to the Lanting Gathering, Yan Zhenqing's Letter about Flood in Huzhou, Yan Liben's Emperor Taizong Receiving the Tibetan Envoy of the Tang dynasty, Xiaoxiang River of the Five Dynasties, Mi Youren's Xiaoxiang River Sights, Chen Rong's Dragon, A Hundred Flowers by an anonymous artist, and Zhang Zeduan's Riverside Scenery at the Qingming Festival of the Song dynasty. This will be the first time for national treasures of ancient Chinese paintings and calligraphy of such superb artistic and historical significance to be featured in Hong Kong.

Dragon Jamboree |
Close to 10,000 young people from the Mainland, Macao, Taiwan and Hong Kong will gather together for this fun-filled activity. They will play dual roles as spectators and performers, as they demonstrate their commitment to, and vision of, the future through music and dance.
The programme is made up of four segments. "Dragon Dance" is the first part followed by "Music" which includes an innovative performance by 10 musicians playing 10 pianos. The third segment "Drums" will be an impressive drum rally with nearly 10,000 drummers. The final segment "Dance" will showcase a dance medley of the traditional and the popular. Pop stars will also be invited to add variety and music to the jamboree.

The Reunification Cup is an all-day football fiesta and a major programme to celebrate HKSAR's 10th Anniversary. The three matches will be played by Mainland and HK celebrity teams; 21-time German Bundesliga Champion Bayern Munich and the four-time Brazilian League Champion Sao Paulo; and the Chinese National Team with HK players and a FIFA World Star team. China Philharmonic Orchestra |
The China Philharmonic Orchestra is an orchestra of national accreditation, founded on the basis of the former China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra. Its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor is Yu Long. The Orchestra comprises musicians of the highest calibre, and since its establishment in 2000, has performed with some of the best known names in the music world. It is acclaimed as one of the top orchestras of Asia.
The Orchestra will be performing with Lang Lang, the world famous young pianist and three talented young musicians from Hong Kong: Colleen Lee (piano), Trey Lee (cello) and Li Chuanyun (violin). The programme will have a "heroic" theme which reflects the spirit of modern China and of the people of Hong Kong.

International DanceSport Extravaganza |
This event features a series of dancesport competitions and demonstrations by all age groups and will be the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The 2-day event will consist of a world ranking "International DanceSport Competition" with top international dancesport couples from Europe, America and Asian countries/regions competing for the champion. To mark the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, a group of 10 years old young athletes will perform a demonstration of Latin Dance on 8 July. An exhibition on dancesport costume and a "DanceSport Carnival" with play-in sessions will be organised for public participation with free admission.

Gymnastics Extravaganza |
Two performances will be staged by our famous National Gymnastics Teams together with Hong Kong Team for demonstrating Artistic, Rhythmic and Acrobatic Gymnastics on 13 & 14 July 2007 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. A delegation of 40 gymnasts of National Gymnastics Teams, including 2006 Doha Asian Games Artistic Gymnastic Teams Champions such as Yang Wei, Cheng Fei, Chen Yibing, Zhang Nan and Xiao Qin will take part in the demonstrations. It is expected that this event will attract many spectators and wide media coverage.

Exhibition on the Major Archaeological Discoveries of China in Recent Years |
The archaeological discoveries of China in recent years have brought new perspectives for the study of Chinese history and culture. Featuring over 120 sets of cultural relics, this exhibition reveals the major achievements of Chinese archaeology over the past decade. Highlights include rarely seen bronze objects, pottery figures, lacquer ware, exquisite jade, Buddhist relics, and gold and silver ware. The exhibits come from various museums and cultural institutes, with a long period spanning from the New Stone Age to the Qing dynasty.

"Treasures of the World's Cultures: from the British Museum" |
Featuring about 250 artifacts including sculptures, paintings, jewellery, porcelain and stone artifacts that have been collected from the world's five continents by the British Museum since it was founded in 1753, this exhibition covers a vast span of time from 2 million years ago to the present day. Diverse cultures including ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece, as well as artistic styles of European, African, American and Asian art would be explored. Highlight items include an Egyptian wooden mummy-board "The Unlucky Mummy" of the early 22nd Dynasty, about 945 BC; a 13th century Egyptian brass "Astrolabe" with silver inlay; a marble Roman statue of Dionysos of 2nd century; a "Queen's lyre" of 2600-2400 BC found in the Royal Cemetery at Ur; and a walrus ivory chess-piece made in 1150-1200 and found in Scotland.
The world acclaimed British Museum has one of the richest collections of cultural relics from various cultures of the world. This exhibition marks a rare large-scale assembly of gems of the diverse cultures that is touring the East.

Mega Tai Chi Show |
Tai Chi is a sport with a long history and is also the quintessence of Chinese culture. Mega Tai Chi Show aims at providing an opportunity for Tai Chi enthusiasts to exchange knowledge and skills. With renowned Tai Chi masters from Mainland and Hong Kong, about 20,000 participants will gather at the former Kai Tak Airport to perform Tai Chi exercise for a period of 20 minutes.

Grand Opera in 4 Acts: AIDA |
Verdi's Aida is one of the most spectacular, most successful and most frequently performed Italian operas in the world. Distinguished by its expansive and poignant music, it demonstrates the great composer's genius in moving from the subtle characterization of individual roles to the magnificent crowd scenes, from intimate emotions to dramatic climaxes and back again to personal passions and fulfillment.
In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, the Hong Kong production of Aida will be produced by Warren Mok and directed by Maurizio de Mattia from Rome Opera. This production features a strong cast of local and overseas vocalists, together with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The sets and costumes will follow the original designs of the Rome Opera production, as a feast for the eye with their elegance and grandeur.
