Terrestrial. These small animals, although deer-like in appearance, are not deer at all. The name "chevrotain" refers to their diminutive size. The Lesser Mouse Deer is the world's smallest hoofed mammal with a weight of merely two kilograms. They have no horns but both jaws have canine teeth while in males, the upper canines are enlarged into small tusks. |
