Habitat Forest

Behaviour Terrestrial. These small animals, although deer-like in appearance, are not deer at all. The name "chevrotain" refers to their diminutive size. The Lesser Mouse Deer is the world's smallest hoofed mammal with a weight of merely two kilograms. They have no horns but both jaws have canine teeth while in males, the upper canines are enlarged into small tusks.

Diet Fallen fruit, fungi and foliage.
