| Elephant-yam, a rare plant species cultivated in Hong Kong Park Conservatory for the first time has recently started to blossom.
Elephant-yam, its scientific name is Amorphophallus paeoniifolius, is naturally distributed in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the Eastern Hemisphere. A corpse-like smell will be produced during the flowering period, attracting flies and insects to help its pollination. After processing, its stem tuber can be used to produce konjac food.
