School Sports Programme -
sportACT Award Scheme

Objective
sportACT Award Scheme (sportACT) aims to encourage students to set their sports participation plan, participate in physical activities regularly and constantly and to build up an active and healthy life style. Participating students will actively engage in sports activities over a consecutive eight-week period. If they attain the requirement of the sportACT, they will be granted the sportACT award.

Students should pick their appropriate sports according to their interests and capabilities. Then, set their targets, play the sports or get the training. Soon they will enjoy the fun and merits of exercising.

Criteria for the sportACT Award
Students may apply for awards if the following criteria can be met during any 8 consecutive weeks:


For Primary and Secondary Schools

For Special Schools

Gold Award

At least thrice a week and 5 hours in total per week
(at least 18 times and 30 hours in total for the 8-week plan)

Silver Award

At least thrice a week and 4 hours in total per week
(at least 18 times and 24 hours in total for the 8-week plan)

Bronze Award

At least twice a week and 3 hours in total per week
(at least 12 times and 18 hours
in total for the 8-week plan)

At least on 3 days a week and 20 minutes per day
(18 times and 6 hours in total for the 8-week plan)

Remark

  1. At least meeting the target in 6 weeks during the 8-week sports plan.
  2. It is recommended that the intensity of physical activities should be “moderate” or above.
  3. The time spent on sports on each occasion should be at least 20 minutes and no more than 2 hours per day should be recorded. (The time spent on the physical education lesson should not be counted.)

 

  1. At least meeting the target in 6 weeks during the 8-week sports plan.
  2. The time spent on actual sports activity during physical education lesson under the supervision of PE teachers can also be counted.
  3. At least participate in extra-curricular sports activity once a week under the supervision of PE teachers, coaches or family members.
  4. It is recommended that the intensity of physical activities should be “moderate” or above which can be adjusted to cater for the health condition of the participants. The focus should be on the time spent on sports activity instead of the intensity.
  5. For Gold & Silver Awards, the time spent on sports on each occasion should be at least 20 minutes and no more than 2 hours per day should be recorded.

Get ready Students fill in and sign the Student Charter, seek parent's consent, then go ahead with the 8-week sports plan. Get set, go!
Pitch in Pick the appropriate sports according to one's interests. Do the physical activities or get the sports training.
Keep track To fill in the Students' Sports Diary after exercising. Have it certified by a certifying person (parents, coaches or teachers) every week.
Apply for award Submit the Sports Diary to the school teachers for collective submission to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for application for awards.
