Introduction
The School Sports Programme (SSP) is a sports promotional activity jointly organised by the National Sports Associations (NSAs) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). The implementation of the SSP is coordinated by the LCSD and the activities are co-organised by the Education Bureau (EDB), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The target groups of the SSP are students of primary, secondary and special schools. The SSP activities are organised in line with the daily schedule of schools so that students can participate in the activities in the school environment during their leisure time.

Objectives
The objectives of the SSP are to:

  • enrich the lives of students;
  • provide opportunities for students to take part in sports activities continuously;
  • raise the standard of sports among students;
  • train more sports volunteers;
  • encourage students to take part in sports activities and voluntary services; and
  • promote a sports culture.

Activities under SSP
The SSP consists of seven subsidiary programmes, namely the Sport Education Programme, the Easy Sport Programme, the Sport Captain Programme, the Outreach Coaching Programme, the Joint Schools Sports Training Programme, the Badges Award Scheme and the sportACT Award Scheme.
