Introduction
This Department co-organised the subject scheme with Social Welfare Department. Six refreshment contracts of LCSD venues were selected for restricted tendering by government subvented non-profit making organisations with experience and expertise in serving the people with disabilities.
Objective
This scheme aims at creating more employment opportunity for the people with disabilities as well as to provide a training ground for those disabled persons to integrate into the society.
Content
The Government has long been encouraging the people with disabilities to equip themselves with vocational skills and to integrate into the society. As such, this Department together with Social Welfare Department selected six refreshment contracts of LCSD venues for running by these disabled organisations by means of restricted tenders, so as to provide more job and on-job training opportunities for the people with disabilities. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the scheme, the Social Welfare Department has selected some eligible organisations from the list of government subvented non-profit making organisations to join the scheme. Those selected organisations should have experience and expertise in serving the people with disabilities and actively involved in welfare and charity activities for at least five years. These organisations should also have sufficient financial and management support.
