The Power and Timelessness of Dreams

Animation, perhaps the medium that best expresses youth, dreams and limitless creativity, has long captured the imagination of audiences everywhere. This retrospective will feature animations that span over a period of 50 years from animators in Hong Kong and Taiwan that embody not only their bubbling creativity, but also their passion and their dreams.

Hong Kong animators share an intricate relationship with their Taiwanese counterparts. To further encourage collaboration and interaction, and to promote the work of young animators, the Hong Kong Arts Centre will be showing Hong Kong and Taiwanese animated films from the 1970s to the present day. Apart from the main exhibition and screenings, talks and seminars will also be held to allow audiences to better appreciate the abundance of talented animators from both cities.

This talk, hosted by animation historians, revisits the eventful history of Hong Kong animation over the past 50 years.
