Guided Visits to Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens (Botanical Garden)

(A)

Purposes

:

To provide opportunities for pupils to know more about the structure of plants, simple plant classification, plant growth and reproduction, the relationship between plants and the environment and the concept of environmental protection through field observation and explanation by special guides.

(B)

Highlights

:

The Gardens are the oldest public gardens in Hong Kong. Planted with a rich variety of plant species, they can be regarded as a live herbarium. Apart from the introduction of different species of trees, shrubs, seasonal flowers and climbers, pupils will also be guided to the Green House to recognize the greenhouse facilities and those common indoor plants like: Bromeliads, Ferns, Orchids and various Carnivorous plants etc.

Application Method

:

Applications for the above activities will be accepted from 2 September 2013 onwards. Primary schools interested in these activities can apply by completing the Application Form at Annex 3 and submit the forms by fax or by post. Due to limited places, applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis. (We will accept applications by fax commencing at 9:00 am on 2 September 2013. Applications by fax or by post received before 2 September 2013 will not be entertained.)-
