Categories
The Award is presented in three categories.

a. Large Scale Residential Property (more than 1 000 units)
Class 1: Soft Landscape Design Award
  1. Properties up to 10 years of age
  2. Properties between 11 to 20 years of age
  3. Properties over 20 years of age
Class 2: Horticultural Maintenance Award
  1. Properties up to 10 years of age
  2. Properties between 11 to 20 years of age
  3. Properties over 20 years of age
b. Residential Property (1 000 units or less)
Class 3: Soft Landscape Design Award
  1. Properties up to 10 years of age
  2. Properties between 11 to 20 years of age
  3. Properties over 20 years of age
Class 4: Horticultural Maintenance Award
  1. Properties up to 10 years of age
  2. Properties between 11 to 20 years of age
  3. Properties over 20 years of age
c. Non-residential Property, such as aided schools, shopping malls and commercial buildings
Class 5: Soft Landscape Design Award
  1. Properties up to 10 years of age
  2. Properties between 11 to 20 years of age
  3. Properties over 20 years of age
Class 6: Horticultural Maintenance Award
  1. Properties up to 10 years of age
  2. Properties between 11 to 20 years of age
  3. Properties over 20 years of age
Note: The age of the property (determined as on the day of close of registration) is based on:
  i) the date of occupation permit (OP) issued by the Building Authority;
  ii) the date of certificate of completion of the building works if OP is exempted.
Assessment Criteria

The green features of nominated project will be assessed broadly on the following criteria :

  • Visual and landscape quality;
  • Sustainability including site coverage of greenery;
  • Excellence of horticultural maintenance;
  • Tree care;
  • Health and hygiene conditions;
  • Enhancement to urban livability;
  • Involvement and interaction of users;
  • Improvement to micro-environment; and
  • Improvement to neighboring landscape.
Eligibility
1. The nominated project must be situated within Hong Kong. Any private developer and private body in Hong Kong may nominate entries for the Award.
2. The landscape greening areas of the nominated projects must be for communal use, accessible by the public or residents.
3. Projects that have already received a landscape design award in the past would not be eligible for entry in the same class unless there were significant changes to the design. Notwithstanding that, they would be eligible to enter for other classes, e.g. Horticultural Maintenance.
4. The Panel of Jurors for each class shall not be in any way associated with any nominated projects in the respective class. The Jurors must declare in advance their interest in any nominated project with which they have been associated.
5. A partially completed project as at the closing date for the nomination will not be accepted unless the phasing of the project is so obvious as to enable the completed portion to be considered as a separate entity.
Language

Entry documentation must be presented in English or Chinese.
Compliance with Regulations

All entries will be examined according to the regulations and requirements of this Prospectus. Failure to comply with these regulations will lead to disqualification. Any such disqualification shall be at the absolute discretion of the Panel of Jurors.
Panel of Jurors
1. All entry documentation and nominated projects will be examined by the Panel of Jurors comprising representatives from the Organiser and the Co-organisers, horticulturists and environmentalists.
2. In case of inability on the part of any Juror to act, he/ she will be replaced by a person to be nominated by the Organiser.
Timetable
1. Submission of entries begins in March 2012. The Secretariat will mail the Prospectus to the Co-organisers and related organisations for distribution to interested bodies and individuals for submitting entries.
2. All entry documentation should be sent to the given address for the attention of the Secretariat, Best Landscape Award for Private Property Development 2012 not later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 23 April 2012. The Panel of Jurors will assess the entries in May 2012.
3. All dates including those for submission, enquiries and assessment are subject to change on the advice of or with the agreement of the Organiser or the Panel of Jurors. Notice of any change of the timetable will be sent to all registered nominating corporations and publicised on LCSD’s website by the Secretariat as soon as possible.
4. Any notice served by the Organiser to registered nominating corporations shall be deemed to be properly served when addressed and sent by post, facsimile or e-mail to the registered nominating corporations’ last known postal, facsimile or e-mail addresses.
Adjudication

The Panel of Jurors may request for further information about the nominated projects and/ or conduct site visits as required before coming to a final decision.
Awards
1. The Panel of Jurors will present the Award to the meritorious projects in each sub-class (including Award to Soft Landscape Design, Horticultural Maintenance and Tree Growth Status).
2. The number of Awards to be presented is at the complete discretion of the Jurors. The decision of the Panel is final.
Copyright
1. The Organiser reserves the right to retain all entry documentation and to use/publish the contents at its discretion for the purposes of promotion and publicity of the Award. All submitted documents and materials are non returnable to applicants/organisations.
2. The nominating corporation shall make sure that the materials submitted do not infringe any copyrights. For materials the copyrights of which are owned by the nominating corporation, the nominating corporation shall grant the Government the rights to use, adapt, copy, distribute, display and publish the materials. The nominating corporation shall seek prior agreement from the copyrights owner for the Government to use, adapt, copy, distribute, display and publish the submitted materials which are owned by a third party.
Results
1. The results of the Award will tentatively be announced in June 2012 after which the Organiser will stage a public exhibition of winning entries.
2. All awards will be presented at a ceremony organised by the Organiser tentatively in June 2012.
Disputes
1. The Panel of Jurors is the sole arbiter at all stages from registration to the final presentation of awards. Its decision on any matter will be final and binding on all parties.
2. In the event of a dispute not related to the judging process or the presentation of awards, the matter will be settled by arbitration without recourse to the legal authorities of Hong Kong.
3. The Arbitration Body will be appointed by the Organiser.
4. The expenses of arbitration are to be shared equally by the parties involved in the dispute.
