RULES AND NOTES OF COMPETITION
- Exhibitors must enter the competition in appropriate classes and the Show Committee reserves the right to reclassify exhibits into proper classes without giving prior notification to the exhibitors.
- Exhibitors are only allowed to enter one exhibit for competition in each class unless otherwise stated.
- All exhibits must be put on display throughout the Show period as indicated in the entry form. Exhibits must be bona fide property of the exhibitors both at time of entry and during the Show.
- Exhibits with any living creatures will not be accepted.
- Exhibitors are not allowed to act as judges in classes which they have entered any exhibit.
- The Show Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry or to withdraw any entry without stating any reasons.
- Infringement of any rules and regulations governing the Show will render the exhibitor to be disqualified and the forfeiture of any trophy or certificate.
- The Show Committee will not be liable for any loss or damage caused to exhibits and accessories of floral art by accident, or an act of God.
- Should any entry exhibit wither to such a state that it is no longer suitable
for display purpose, the Show Committee has the right to remove it from the
display bench. The exhibitor can retrieve his/her exhibit on the dates specified
in paragraph 18 below.
- Prizes will be awarded or may be withheld at the discretion of the judges.
- The Hong Kong Flower Show Cups will be awarded to the best exhibit of the Open Competition Section (Sections I-IX) and the School Section (Sections X-XII). A cup will be awarded to the best exhibit of each section. Winning certificates will be awarded to winners of the respective class.
- A prize presentation ceremony will be held during the show period at Victoria Park. Only Cups will be presented at the ceremony while winning certificates will be sent to winners by post after the Show.
- Relevant Ordinances related to plants:
- Under the Animals and Plants (Protection of Endangered Species) Ordinance (Cap. 187), it is an offence to possess, import or export wild orchid/endangered plant species except with a licence issued in advance by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. A licence is not required for the import of artificially propagated orchid/endangered plant species, but import shipment must be accompanied by a CITES export permit issued by the exporting country, or a certificate of artificial propagation, or a phytosanitary certificate issued by certain entitled CITES Parties.
- As stipulated in the Plant (Importation and Pest Control) Ordinance (Cap. 207), a Plant Import Licence issued by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and a valid Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the Plant Protection Department of the country of origin is required for the import of plants into Hong Kong.
- Under the Forests and Countryside Ordinance (Cap. 96), damaging plants in any forest or plantation on government land is prohibited. Some rare and attractive plants are specifically listed in the Forestry Regulations to control their sale or possession.
- All entries should be delivered to the showground at any time from 9am to 9pm on March 9, 2005. Exhibitors of Section XIII - School Garden Plot Competition are required to set up their exhibits at the showground between 1pm and 9pm on March 8, 2005 and from 9am to 9pm on March 9, 2005. Late entries will not be accepted.
- Each exhibitor will be given a badge for admission to the showground free of charge for the purposes of putting up, maintaining and collecting his/her exhibit(s). During the Show period, free admission to the showground will be limited to the time as specified below:
- Between 5pm and 9pm on March 11 - 14, 2005
- From 9am to 9pm on March 15, 2005
- Between 5pm and 9pm on March 16 - 20, 2005
- Size of pots for entry exhibits of Sections III-VI, XI and XII: the diameter or diagonal of a pot or a pan means the internal measurement made as near the top as possible.
- The novice classes of Sections VIII and IX 'Floral Arrangement' are reserved for those who have never won the first, second or third prizes in previous Shows.
- Exhibitors can retrieve their entry exhibits on the following dates and time:

Exhibitors can retrieve their exhibits from 9am to 9pm on March 16 - 21, 2005 or 9am to 12 noon on March 22, 2005.) |

- The Show Committee reserves the sole and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations as well as other prescribed conditions and regulations and to settle finally and determine all matters in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of the Show. The decision of the Show Committee will be final.
