Characteristics:
About 43 cm long. Long tail, apple-green bill
and red eyes. The male is all bluish-black.
The female is brown with pale coloured spots and
bars. It gives a repetitive and loud ko-el, ko-el
call.
Distribution:
Resident. Can be heard in major urban parks
and open wooded areas in summer.
Habits:
Feeds on fruits, seeds and insects.Parasitises
Black-collared Starlings, Crested Mynas and Blue
Magpies etc for incubation.
