Characteristics:
About 9 cm long. The male has a metallic blue-green
head, dark crimson throat and upper breast as
well as decurved bill. The female and immature
have green upperparts tinged grey on crown, pale
yellow rump and yellowish underparts.
Distribution:
Resident. Commonly found in woodland and
major urban parks.
Habits:
Often looking for food among flowers. Voice
is high-pitched and loud. Breeding season from
April to June. Nest is a ball of grass placed
in a tree.
