2015 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme invites applications

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is inviting applications for the 2015 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme. The scheme is open for applications from today (April 23) until June 3.

The scheme aims to bring the arts into the community by encouraging local performing artists and arts groups to organise outreach arts activities throughout Hong Kong, so as to develop greater interest in the performing arts among the general public and community groups.

Applicants should be registered local non-profit-making performing arts groups or ensembles of artists that have been active in the promotion of a specific art form in Hong Kong in the past three years and possess actual experience in public performance of a high standard. Applicants may submit one proposal for one of the following types of activities only:

(a) Audience building/arts education activities that are specifically designed for particular community groups or which will be conducted in specific districts. The department encourages arts groups/arts practitioners to submit proposals under the following special topics of the 2015 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme: (i) activities enhancing the participation of ethnic minorities in performing arts, or (ii) activities for building elderly audiences; or

(b) Audience-building/arts educational activities that are designed for the general public.

The proposal should cover one or more performing art form(s), such as Chinese opera/operatic singing, dance, music, theatrical arts (including drama, mime, magic and puppetry) and multi-arts. Proposed projects may include one or a combination of the following types of activities: performance, workshop, episodic performance, lecture, demonstration and exhibition.

The application guide and form for the scheme are available at  as well as at the department's performing arts venues, and can be obtained by mail or in person from the Audience Building Office at 11/F, Queen Elizabeth Stadium, 18 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong (from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday); or by fax at 2591 1160.

The deadline for applications is 6pm on June 3. Please refer to the application guide and form for details. Applications sent by post will be checked against the postmark.
