Creative arts space in Tsim Sha Tsui
Members of the public can take a stroll in the cultural oasis of the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront area during the Easter holidays, appreciating the large outdoor sculptures and visiting a creative market, a garden and the waterfront itself amid an artistic atmosphere.
Visitors can start their journey by visiting the Art Square at Salisbury Garden, where "Heaven, Earth and Man - A Hong Kong Art Exhibition" is being held. The large-scale sculptures "Waterdrop", "Big Apple" and "Happy Folks I & II", created by local artists Danny Lee, Kum Chi-keung and Rosanna Li, seek to interpret modern man's imagination and dialogue with nature. The new Art Square serves as a versatile open platform for local talent, art displays and other cultural programmes, providing the public with a new art experience.
Close to the Art Square, a number of large sculptures by world-famous Chinese artist Ju Ming are on display in the space around the Hong Kong Museum of Art. The "Ju Ming - Sculpting the Living World" exhibition is now being held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, featuring 120 sets of works from the "Living World Series". Some of the sculptures are being displayed in the space around the museum and in the Art Square at Salisbury Garden. Sculptures depicting people with umbrellas or lining up as well as soldiers and children are popular photo-taking spots and enable visitors to see Ju's creations at close range.
On Saturday and Sunday (April 19 and 20), after visiting the exhibition of famous sculptures, members of the public can go to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) Piazza to take a look at the Fotanian Creative Market. Artists from galleries and studios in Fo Tan will display and sell their handicrafts in market stalls, and share with the visitors their experiences in artistic creation.
The market is organised under the second phase of the "Creative Market in Partnership @ HKCC" scheme being held from February to June. Experienced partner organisations have joined the scheme to set up market stalls on fair days on Saturdays and Sundays, offering the public a diverse range of cultural and creative activities.
