The Lunar New Year thematic lantern display "Roaming in Love" is lighting up the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza to celebrate the festive season. Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the lantern display will run until March 2 and admission is free.

This year, Valentine's Day (February 14) falls on the same day as the Spring Lantern Festival, the 15th day of the first month in the lunar calendar. To tie in with the message of love and romance, the lantern display has the theme of "Roaming in Love" and aims to enhance the atmosphere of joy and love.

Traditional wedding customs of different countries are being showcased in the lantern display, which depicts both Eastern and Western elements. The auspicious "Dragon and Phoenix Candles" lantern display features a traditional Chinese wedding scene. Set against the backdrop of the clock tower, the display features a procession escorting a bridegroom riding on a horse and a red sedan chair carrying a bride towards a giant arch of dragon and phoenix candles, filling the piazza with a joyful ambience.

Another highlight, the "Fantasy Church", features a royal wedding with a church glittering with purple LED lights. The scene shows a prince and a princess riding on a glistening carriage, as well as a two-tier wedding cake decorated with roses, filling the venue with a fairy-tale ambience. In addition, there are lanterns showing traditional Korean and Japanese wedding scenes and wedding costumes. The word "Love" and the Chinese character for "Double Happiness" are also on display to add a romantic touch to the event.

For more information on the lantern displays, please visit the website at www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/Entertainment/EntertainmentOffice/events_details/14lanterncarnival/index.html or call 2591 1340.
