Primary and Secondary school students interested in joining the Jockey Club Student Drawing Competition at the Hong Kong Flower Show 2014 are invited to enrol through their schools by January 29 (Wednesday).

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust as the Major Sponsor, the competition will be held on March 7 (Friday) at Victoria Park.

The competition will be conducted in four categories: Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three); Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six); Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three); and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Six).

The competition for the primary school categories will be held from 9am to noon, while the competition for the secondary school categories will be held from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

The competition will feature students' drawings of flowers and garden displays in the showground with a view to enhancing awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.

The theme of this year's drawing competition is "Blossoms of Joy". Participants may draw or paint any floral exhibits or garden displays in the showground to illustrate the theme.

Each category will have a champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, as well as 10 highly commended and 15 certificates of merit winners.

Winning entries of the champions, first and second runners-up and those highly commended will be exhibited in the showground at Victoria Park from March 8 to 16. All winning entries will then be displayed at the Kowloon Park Arcade and will also be available for viewing on the LCSD webpage in May.

The prospectus and entry form can be downloaded from the LCSD webpage at www.lcsd.gov.hk/green/hkfs/2014/en/drawing.php . Completed forms should be signed by the principal of the participating schools and sent to the Chairman of the Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2014, at 6/F, Kwun Chung Sports Centre, Kwun Chung Municipal Service Building, Bowring Street, Jordan, Kowloon, or submitted by fax (2314 2205) on or before January 29.

For enquiries, please call 2302 1268.

The Hong Kong Flower Show 2014 will be held in Victoria Park for 10 days from March 7 to 16, featuring Blossoms of Joy as the main theme and the kalanchoe as the theme flower.
