To arouse public interest in horticulture and to enhance awareness of greening, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold a horticulture education exhibition entitled "Green our Home" tomorrow (November 9) and on Sunday (November 10) from 10am to 4pm at the Arcade of Kowloon Park. The exhibition is one of the events under the "Fresh Hong Kong" theme of the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign. Admission is free.
Home greening is one of the great ways to relieve stress. A small green corner at home can relax weary eyes, and the pleasant scent of some plants can even raise spirits.
There are many choices of indoor plants including flowering plants, foliage plants, air plants and herbs. Some plants, such as cacti and succulents as well as pitcher plants, have distinctive and interesting features.
Descriptive display panels will enable members of the public to learn more about the selection of plants and ways to decorate the home with plants. They will also introduce the tips for house plant maintenance and environmentally friendly ways to control pests and diseases.
Game stalls will be open during the exhibition at the Kowloon Park Arcade. Visitors can also share the fun of pot planting under the guidance of horticulture instructors.
Talks in Cantonese entitled "Introduction and planting of indoor plants" and "Creative decoration of indoor plants" will be held at the Secondary Hall of Kowloon Park Sports Centre. Admission tickets are required.
