Temporary closure of some LCSD leisure and sports facilities

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (October 31) that the following leisure and sports facilities will be temporarily closed:

(a) The arena of the Jockey Club Tuen Mun Butterfly Beach Sports Centre in Tuen Mun District will be temporarily closed from November 1 to January 27, 2014, for renovation works. During this period, other facilities in the Sports Centre will remain open as usual. The public may use similar facilities at Yau Oi Sports Centre.

(b) The fitness room of Peng Chau Sports Centre in Islands District will be temporarily closed from November 4 to December 13 for refurbishment. Other facilities in the Sports Centre will remain open as usual. During this period, the public may use similar facilities at Mui Wo Sports Centre and Tung Chung Man Tung Road Sports Centre.

(c) Four badminton courts (Nos. 2, 4, 6 and 8) in the arena of Smithfield Sports Centre in Central and Western District will be temporarily closed from 7am to 7pm between November 4 and 30, while the other four badminton courts (Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 7) will be temporarily closed for the whole day during the same period for the first phase of renovation works.

     All of the above eight badminton courts will be temporarily closed from December 1 to January 4, 2014, for the whole day for the second phase of renovation works. During this period, other facilities in the Sports Centre will remain open as usual. The public may use similar facilities at Shek Tong Tsui Sports Centre.
