**************************************************

This autumn, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is bringing a paradise of scents to Hong Kong Park, where it is holding a thematic exhibition on fragrant flowers at its Forsgate Conservatory. Members of the public are invited to come and enjoy the autumn breeze surrounded by the lovely scents of flowers.

The "2013 Exhibition on Fragrant Flowers" is showing about 50 species of fragrant flowers and scented plants, along with display boards on "Fragrant Flowering Plants Commonly Found in Gardens" with information and pictures featuring 12 species commonly found in parks including Arabian jasmine, sweet olive, rugosa rose, frangipani and mock lime, a spokesman for the LCSD said.

Through the exhibition, visitors can learn more about the characteristics of different fragrant flowers and their special uses. They will discover that Arabian jasmine is for making tea, sweet olive is for wine and rugosa rose is for perfume.  Supplemented with graphics, the display panels also provide planting tips such as optimal temperature for growth, correct amount of water, type of soil required and so forth.

Moreover, a number of products manufactured from fragrant flowers and scented plants is also be on display including candles, spices and essential oil products.  While enjoying the fresh fragrance, flower lovers can also enrich their knowledge about these plants.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition at the Forsgate Conservatory, Hong Kong Park, Cotton Tree Drive, Central from now until October 31. The exhibition is open from 9am to 5pm daily including holidays, and admission is free. For details of the exhibition, please browse the LCSD website (www.lcsd.gov.hk/parks/hkp/en/fragrant_flowers.php).

The spokesman added, "Besides stopping over at the '2013 Exhibition on Fragrant Flowers', other specialised facilities in the park like the Aviary, the Vantage Point and the Olympic Square also win the hearts of visitors. It's worth visiting to get more fun in the park."
