Starting from July 1 2005, bona-fide associations
can book Leisure and Cultural Services Department's (LCSD) recreation and sports
facilities six months in advance.
The relaxation will enable the bona-fide associations to apply for block booking
of selected recreation and sports facilities six months in advance. These
facilities will include the main arenas of sports centres, activity rooms, squash
courts and fitness rooms. At present, the bona-fide associations can make reservations
of the facilities three months in advance. This newly relaxed booking arrangement
is aimed at encouraging people to actively participate in recreation and sports
activities during their leisure time and hence forming the habit of doing exercises
regularly. The new arrangement will allow more flexibility and time for the associations
to organise their events.
This new measure has gained full support of the Community Sports Committee of
the Sports Commission after detailed discussions.
The relaxation of the booking procedure is applicable to the following recreation
and sports facilities:
|
(1)
|
Main arenas and activity rooms during non-peak hours (from
7 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays except public holidays), and |
|
(2)
|
Squash courts and fitness rooms during all opening hours. |
The bona-fide associations generally refer to the non-governmental organisations
in all districts, such as social welfare agencies, centres for the disabled, elderly
centres and youth centres, affiliated clubs of national sports associations, women
associations, mutual aid committees, kai fong associations, cultural and art performing
groups, companies as well as other societies.
The application form (LCS189) is available on the LCSD's website www.lcsd.gov.hk.
Completed forms should be submitted to the respective venues. |
