Assistant Curator II (Conservation)
Salary: $ 17,480 per month
Entry Requirements:
(a) Have a Hong Kong degree or equivalent, for which at least 33% of the credit units should be in one of the following subjects: Conservation, Applied Chemistry/ Chemistry, Materials Science/ Material Engineering, or equivalent [see note (1)];
(b) Have worked full time for at least one year after obtaining the degree in (a) above; and
(c) Have level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent [see note (2)]

(1) Candidates should attach copies of all official transcripts of studies with their applications for assessment of relevant credit units obtained. Applications, which are incomplete, not duly signed or without such supporting documents will not be considered.
(2) For non-civil service appointment purpose, ¡¥Grade E¡¦ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ¡¥Level 2¡¦ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.]
Duties:
(a) Assist in preservation, restoration and conservation work in relation to built heritage;
(b) Monitor the climatic environment of built heritage and related objects;
(c) Examine and document the physical condition of built heritage and related objects;
(d) Perform scientific analysis and research on built heritage and conservation materials; and
(e) Undertake conservation treatment and preservation tasks.
[Note: May be required to work irregular hours.]
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on Non-Civil Service Contract Terms for 1 year.
Fringe Benefits: A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such contract gratuity payable for the contract will be the sum which, when added to the Department's contribution to a MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
