Attending a Performance

HKCC Foyer Seating of Auditorium

You can contribute to an enjoyable performance if you can do a few things:

  • Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the performance starts. When you are admitted to the auditorium, you can take this time to learn more about the programme by reading the house programme and to prepare yourself for the performance. To avoid disturbance, latecomers will only be admitted until a suitable break or the interval during the programme.
  • You can make yourself more comfortable by storing large items at the Cloakroom located at the Foyer of the Centre.
  • Before the performance begins, please switch off any sound / light emitting devices and mobile phones. This can help you to focus on the programme and avoid disturbing other members of the audience or the performers.
  • Please do not eat or drink in the seating area inside the auditorium to avoid disturbing the others.
  • Be a considerate audience, please avoid making unnecessary noise and chatting during the performance.
  • To avoid disturbing the other members of the audience and the performance, if you must leave the auditorium during the programme, please wait until a suitable break. Readmission is at the discretion of venue management.
  • When you attend a concert, you are welcome to applaud at the end of each work or group of works. If you are not sure whether it is appropriate to applaud, a good indication is to wait until the conductor or the artist has put his/her arms down and turned to face the audience.

You are encouraged to participate in any lectures, workshops or master class before a performance. Through these activities, you may get more knowledge about the programme, such as the background, history or some interesting stories of the performance or the work. You may have the opportunities to meet the artists or the stage team, to learn about their artistry and views and to share their passions in performing arts. All these will enrich your experience in attending a performance.
