Introduction

The 5 major performing arts centres of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in the NT region, namely the Sha Tin Town Hall, Kwai Tsing Theatre, Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Tuen Mun Town Hall and Yuen Long Theatre, organise on monthly basis free cultural programmes at their plaza or foyer. These programmes cover a wide range of western and Chinese performing arts to cater for different interests of public members. The purposes are to enhance the accessibility of cultural programme to the general public and their understanding on different art forms.


Submission of Proposal

The NT Venues Section is open to proposals for free cultural programmes. Interested artist groups can submit proposal 6 months in advance to any of the above mentioned venues. A proposal should include the biography, history and performance record of the artist group, programme proposal, proposed date and budget breakdown. The applicant is also required to provide reference materials, such as house programme of past performances, audio and/or video recordings and photos.


Selection of Programmes

Proposals will be assessed according to the following criteria: artistic and educational merit of the programme, expertise and organisation ability of the artist group, audience appeal, technical and financial viability, need for a balanced and mix art forms and interests of the local community.

Assessment of the proposals is made at the regular NT Venues Marketing and Programme Meeting.
