The 12th National Games

The 12th National Games was held in Liaoning Province from August 31 to September 12, 2013. Held every four years, the National Games represent the country’s largest and highest level multi-sport games event. A Hong Kong delegation comprising 223 athletes and 104 officials took part in 20 competition events at the 12th National Games. Our athletes won seven medals, including one gold, three silver and three bronze in the cycling, equestrian, rugby, golf and fencing events.

The Hong Kong rugby team won a silver medal in the Rugby-7 men’s event at the 12th National Games.

This was the fifth time that Hong Kong has participated in the National Games since the reunification. An Organising Committee was set up to oversee matters relating to the Hong Kong delegation’s participation in the Games. The department provided secretariat support for all competition-related, administrative and logistics arrangements.
