Sports and Health Exhibition – New Concepts and New Technology in a Modern Society With the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the Hong Kong Equestrian Events fast approaching, it is an ideal occasion to promote public's interest and knowledge in sports. Taking this opportunity, the“Sports and Health – New Concepts and New Technology in a Modern Society”Exhibition aims to encourage the public to participate in sports regularly to enhance their fitness and health. The exhibition introduces the development of sports medicine and sports science in Hong Kong. Through a range of displays and videos, visitors will gain a better understanding on how the current technologies are used in measuring fitness and physiological responses in athletes. Some of the equipment are easy to operate and can even be incorporated for use in our everyday lives. Visitors will have the chance to test their flexibility and assess their muscular strength. The exhibition also provides a glimpse of the training equipment and methods used to assist athletes in improving their performance. A comprehensive “Virtual Clinic”database provides information on the common types of sports injuries and their treatment. On display are various first aid equipment used for the emergency management of sport injuries. Apart from regular exercise, a balanced diet is also important for healthy living. Visitors are recommended to follow the food pyramid guide for food selection. An interactive“Food Exchange Chart”is available to assist visitors in meal planning.
