Activities

During the School Visit sessions, students can join activities that are specially designed for them. These activities include:

Guided Tours
Our experienced docents will introduce a number of interesting and inspiring exhibits suitable for students

Duration: 30mins

Location: Permanent or Special Exhibition Halls

Laboratory Exploration Activities
Students can train themselves up in observation skills, analytical minds and to develop spirits of science through hands-on experiments and exploratory activities.

Duration: 30mins

Location: Laboratory

Science Demonstrations
Through participation in the experiments, students can learn science knowledge, and enhance their abilities in observation and logical thinking.

Duration: About 15 minutes

Venue: Exhibition Hall

Demonstrations

Title Contents
Liquid Nitrogen This session introduces some funny and interesting phenomena occur at the low temperature of minus 196 degrees Celsius.
Electricity & Magnetism This session contains descriptions of the characteristics of static electricity and principles of lightning rod; and demonstrations of using electrostatic generators with which original hairstyles will be created for participants!
Transportation Aided with model boats for demonstration, this session gives an introduction to the principles of operating hovercrafts and sailing boats.
Artificial Clouds To demonstrate at scene the formation of two kinds of cloud containing water droplets and ice crystals respectively, and the audience can have a try to touch the "products".
Science in the Kitchen Some scientific experiments regarding microwave ovens and eggs will be presented.

Film Show
To cater for needs of students of different levels, a variety of films covering various science topics are selected. Students can learn science knowledge through interesting stories.

Duration: About 30mins

Location: Lecture Hall

* Activities will be held according to the availability of venues and docents. All applications will be handled on a first-come-first-served basis.
