Before Garbo, before Dietrich, we have Brooks! In 1928,Pabst took on Hollywood actress Louise Brooks in the title role of Lulu, who played successfully a diva who can at once be an innocent sweetheart and a predator of men. Because of her, we believe that Lulu can abandon man after man and still remains loyal to her true love. Pabst’s delightful camera works has successfully carved a beautiful silent with great sensitivity in female charms and human psychology.
