This delightful comedy is a perfect illustration of the "Union spinoff "sensibility. Though made by several founders of the company, The Noble Family doesn't follow the path of social satire typically taken by Union Film in comedies like Money (1959) and Long Live Money (1961). Instead, it's marked by an overall lightheartedness and occasional playfulness. The film, about a man who tries to save his cousin from decadence by asking his own fiancée to seduce the cousin, is adapted by Lee Sun-fung from an airwave novel by radio storyteller Li Ngaw, who plays a key role here, and directed with verve by Ng Wui.
