After Lee Ngan-fung (Fong Yim-fun) catches his attention, the son of local tyrant Shum Nim (Lau Hark-suen) tries to assault her and meets an accidental death. Fung discards the body with the help of her lover Choi Geng (Cheung Ying), but the existing evidence ends up dragging Fung’s father into the case. To protect her father and Geng, Fung takes the blame on her own and lies to the court about carrying Shum’s baby. Nim coerces Fung to enter the Shum family in order to continue his family bloodline, though he intents to force her into committing suicide once she gives birth. Fortunately, a young maid in the Shum household (Chan Lo-wah) finds Geng in time to save Fung and the baby, and the three escape to their happily ever after. Lau gives another splendid performance as an evil bully who takes advantage of the weak and brutally rules his household with an iron fist.
