Leung So-kam’s acting talents are given a real chance to shine in Puppet Princess, an entry in the fantasy sing-song film. She plays the wicked West Empress, who is jealous of the title girl, so addressed because of a consuming fondness for puppets. After attempts to kill the young princess fail, West Empress recruits a witch to cast a spell on the emperor, who loses his mind and exiles the girl and her mother East Empress… Leung turns in a bewitching performance. Her seduction of the gullible Emperor is an especially memorable scene.
