This film is a parable of the loving father and the lost son. Wong Cho-shan gives a brilliantly nuanced and deeply stirring performance as the ailing father who dies in povertystricken circumstances after being coaxed into selling all family properties by his wayward son to finance his life of debauchery in the city. The title, the 'her' referring to the long-suffering daughter-in-law, can just as aptly be re-named His Difficult Life - as an ode to the father, and to all fathers who nurture, shelter and love their children with no limits.
