In this debut installment of the Dial 999 series, Lee Pang-fei might still be perfecting his take on the iconic Sherlock Holmes image with his odd-looking ensemble of cheongsam , a cap and a large pipe, but the film veteran had apparently nailed the persona of a slick detective who uses a masterful mix of honeyed words, fist of violence and a wicked bag of threats to make the guilty tell the truth. An exemplar of the detective prototype a la Hong Kong cinema.
