Bride Hunter is based on a famous Shaoxing opera, which traditionally features all-female casts. Fung Lam glued on a moustache to cross-dress as a scholar and, along with the rest of the cast, went on months of training with famed Shoxing opera artists Qi Yaxian and Bi Chunfang. The film is the story of a young man (Hsia Moon, as gorgeous as ever being a man) who masquerades as a woman on a dare, only to be snatched by an infatuated bully, the son of a powerful official. As luck would have it, he is then forced to spend a night with the official's beautiful daughter... Fung proves herself a consummate actor, capturing her character with charm and grace.
