Seven Years Itch scratches the actor's itch! Tam Sin-hung left showbiz in 1970 to play the more demanding roles of wife and mother but was lured out of retirement to play a mother in this Cinema City comedy. She plays not a kind, loving nurturer but a loud, pushy, over-protective lioness and it's clear from this wonderful performance that the thespian's fire had remained burning all those years she was taking care of her family. No wonder Tam went on to a glorious second career after Seven Years Itch, remaining active to this day. One additional note: the film was directed by a young Johnnie To, billed then as "Johnny".
