Don’t worry about having to decode the message of this domest i c melodrama; director Chor Yuen appears in the opening of the film to tell the audience about the potential consequences that incur when a mother plays favorites with her children. In this film, the mother loves her younger son (Cheung Ching) so much that she allows her older son (Woo Fung) to serve a prison term in his name. However, the spoiled son then becomes a drug addict and expels his mother from their home. Fortunately, the older son’s wife (Nam Hung) is kind enough to take her mother-in-law in, saving her life. Transforming from a vile wench to a kind mother figure, Wong is truly the heart and soul of this heartbreaking story.
