Mui Yee (1923-1966) stars as a village girl who moves to the city to escape from the village tyrants. However, life in the city makes things only worse for our heroine, as she is forced to sell her body in a brothel to save her lover. Fortunately, she is eventually saved from that sordid life by her lover’s understanding and compassion. To Sam-ku is at her most wicked here, playing the greedy brothel madam who even puts her girls in harm’s way if it brings her profit.
