The Prodigal’s Return may be better known for its hard-hitting portrayal of drug addiction and Patrick Lung Kong’s performance as a junkie, but it’s also marked by the rare appearance of Mak Kay as a good guy. Mak plays the buddy of the title character, a driver with a heart of gold who stands by his friend through thick and thin. Mak proves himself an accomplished actor, turning in a command performance, extending sincerity and loyalty with conviction, all the while projecting a goodness that comes from within.
