Alan Tang went to Taiwan in the early 1970s to star with top actress Chen Chen in Love in a Cabin (1972), quickly winning over hearts of young damsels and establishing himself as an icon of the romance genre. Tang and Chen became a beloved on-screen pair, appearing in over a dozen fellow-up projects and The Colourful Ripples is one of them. The chemistry between the stars is obvious but the best part of the film is Pei Ti, who plays the elder sister of Chen's character, a woman of the illicit trade who is torn between family and duty.
