Comedy teams of Odd Couples are popular in Cantonese cinema and one of the most beloved features the Canto Op stars Ho Fei-fan and Leung Singpo, one paper-thin, the other jovially portly. Here, they play broke blokes perpetually behind in their rent and on the verge of being evicted. Blessed with a happy-go-lucky-go-crazy philosophy, the duo does whatever it takes to make ends meet: from teaching opera singing and dancing to posing as monks. By luck and by pluck, Ling (Ho) stumbles onto a film set and appears in an opera excerpt starring alongside leading lady Fung Wong Nui, performing his signature "puppy tone". Not to be outdone, his partner Leung pulls a spectacle all his own...
