Ten Most Popular Productions in the 21st Hong Kong Drama Awards
The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?, the controversial play by Edward Albee, had its expectedly controversial first run in Hong Kong in 2011, and the group which brought on the shockwaves, We Draman, is reprising its act this coming May.
The flip side of love is the vehemence of a moralistic society.
Martin is at the prime of his life and career. When Ross, his friend for forty years, spills the beans about his darkest secret in a letter to his wife Stevie, his world falls apart. Married for twenty-two years, he has remained faithful to his wife – until he meets his true love, Sylvia. He and ‘she’ are so passionately in love that they have already entered into a physical relationship. His wife, Stevie, is hurt to the core and their son, Billy, who is gay, directs his anger towards his father. The two have a showdown with Martin, and the whole family is on the brink of losing their sanity.
When love lays bare its truest side, and hate reaches the guts, there is no more acceptance, sympathy or empathy, only rationalized betrayal, contempt and jealousy.
