"Have you… ever been youthful?"

"P.E. Period is about the time between one’s teens and youth, and by the college years, it already represents the finishing line for all that ‘youth’ represents. Once beyond it, they are gone forever."

                                                                                                                              "P.E. Period"

Age 21.  It is a threshold in life that one must pass, but gets floored again and again…

It is the beginning of term. Pui Pui witnesses in a karaoke box how Not an Apple is pushed to the floor after she has beaten up the college professor. The scene makes her take stock of herself once again….

Pui Pui knows her days of listening to the chirping of the cicadas in the dorm are almost over, because what is past is past…

Not an Apple knows that there always comes a time when songs of anger would be sung out, because she sees her future lying ahead…

Perhaps what they are dying to do is to pick up their shovels and smash this city that has become a wasteland;

But in fact, they only want to blow on their hands that are getting cold.

P.E. Period 2.0 is about two young girls meeting their challenges in life head on, each in her own way, and in the process, they show us the violent and gentle aspects of youth!

 “I never imagined my book being adapted into a film…. Staging it for the theatre seems more workable. The space and ways of presentation on a stage are much more flexible than on the screen.”

                                                                                                                        Dung Kai-cheung

Theatre Ronin continued their creative direction of focusing on Hong Kong literature. P.E. Period 2.0 is a sequel to their adaptation of Dung Kai-cheung’s P.E. Period, performed as a jazzy, literary musical that evokes bleakness from its splendour, and beauty from its callousness.
