About the Programme

What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner

Future, it seems so close, yet so far.

Future can be exploration to the outer space and is also our lives of next day.

It is not just about looking forward; by referring backward, our future deepened with insight.

CouCou on MARS is a daring adventure, and also an archeology of the future; from what we dreamed up in the past, to what we are envisioning now. It can be sci-fi, and it can also be very basic to our lives and our hearts!

Riding on the experiment of the previous project - Digital Hug, GayBird brings forward his idea of “New Instrument for New Music”. In addition to exploring on interface design and programming for new musical instruments, GayBird also re-constructs and revitalizes century-old futuristic instruments for performing his contemporary music. Through the interfacing and sensor technology, real-time triggers of sound, lights, mechatronics, stage installation and video visuals, offers audience a new dimension of visual music experience.

Programme Length

The programme lasts for about 70 minutes with no intermission.
