Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Film Archive
By the end of the 19th century, imagination and memory of this fishing port had been lighting up the big screen. A wealth of film images from different eras, Hong Kong cinema offers a journey through time to revisit the geography, politics, social life and culture of the city.
The exhibition
The Wheel of Time: 100 Years of Light and Shadow
is a passage illuminated with sight and sound. It recounts the development of Hong Kong cinema in six zones, each of which corresponds to some of the many significant social changes the city underwent in the past century. A voyage across the artistic representations of the social and cityscape provides some of the best reflections on how the Asian metropolis came to life.
