Introduction

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department manages a total of 41 gazetted public beaches in Hong Kong. With the exception of 9 beaches that are temporarily closed due to poor water quality, shark prevention nets have been installed at all the remaining 32 public beaches, of which 10 are in Southern District on the Hong Kong Island, 9 in Islands District, 6 in Tuen Mun District, 1 in Tsuen Wan District and 6 in Sai Kung District.
