CS' transcript

Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, after the closing ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong this afternoon (May 5):

Reporter: Mr Tang, there have been some protests during the relay. Would you still think it is a success?

Chief Secretary for Administration: I think that the relay has been a roaring success. Hong Kong is a diverse society. We welcome those with different views who can live harmoniously and peacefully together. So this is our strength. Whoever was protesting, they were exercising their rights to protest and it was done in a peaceful manner.
